FDA EpiPen Alert

If you or anyone in your family has an EpiPen, read the important information below.

The FDA would like to alert consumers to a few, possible issues with their EpiPen. At this time, they are not recalling these devices.

The link (included below) has a great deal of information that was simplified into the following:
  • When removing the blue safety cap, it is important that you pull it off in an upward/straight manner. Pulling it off unevenly could lead to the device activating too early and not administering the proper dose.
  • SOME devices have a loose blue safety cap, which indicates a malfunction. Take a look at your EpiPen to ensure that cap is properly placed.
  • SOME EpiPens do not slide out of the carrying case with ease, which can lead to delayed treatment. Take a minute to make sure your Epipen can slide out easily.
  • The FDA found that many people do not know how to properly administer an EpiPen and encourage consumers to review the instructions.
  • If you find any issues with your EpiPen, call Mylan Customer Relations at 800-796-9526 to request a replacement at no additional cost.
